16 BIT process
1) Duplicate the background twice. You will have one background image, then two copies above. Name the middle copy "Low" and the top copy "High".
2) Working on the bottom copy, run the Gaussian blur filter (filter>blur>Gaussian blur>). Blur the skin until each pore is blurred. Usually this is between 0.5-4pixels.
3) Select the "high" layer, then select Apply Image from the top Image menu
4) In the Layer dialog box, select the "low" layer that you blurred in step 2.
5) In the Blending dialog box
Select Add in the Blend dialog box.

6.) Select the
Invert checkbox.
7) Enter "2" in the Scale field and "0" in the Offset field.
8.) Select Preserve Transparency and Mask NOT Free
must not be checked.
9) Select OK.
10) Set the Linear Light blending mode for the "High" layer (blending model next to "Opacity" in the layer palette... will default to "Normal"). Opacity should remain 100%.
11) Use the clone stamp to smooth out the spots and discolorations on the LOW layer.
12) Carefully retouch unwanted texture from the high layer.

6) Enter '2' in the Scale field and '128' in the Offset field.
7.) Do not select Preserve Opacity, Mask or Invert

8) Select OK.
9) Set the Linear Light blend mode for the 'High' layer (blend model next to 'Opacity' in the layer palette... will default to 'Normal'). Opacity should remain 100%.
10) Use the clone stamp to smooth out the spots and discolorations on the LOW layer.
