š Youāve Got Skills. But No One Knows You. Now What?

You move to a new city. Or a new country. Or you just start over. And suddenlyāno one knows you. Not your work. Not your story. In a trust-based economy, thatās a silent killer. So how the hell do you get seen when no oneās looking for you?
Let me tell you a true story.
A friend of mine is a pro-level bodybuilder. Like, actual European champion. One look at him and you know he knows what heās doing.
One day, he came with us to a local watch shop. We were there to replace the battery in my husbandās Armani watch. While chatting with the ownerāa warm, friendly womanāhe found out that her daughter was into fitness.
So, casually, he said:
āIf she ever wants help, feel free to recommend me.ā
Her answer?
āWhy would I recommend you? I donāt even know you.ā
And thatās it.
It wasnāt about skill.
It wasnāt about looks.
It wasnāt about titles or trophies.
It was about context.
And in business, context is everything.
š„ The Relevance Triangle
When you show up in a new marketāwhether itās a city, a country, or just a different phase of lifeāyour credibility resets to zero.
Hereās how you rebuild itāfast.
1.
Borrowed Trust
You donāt have to start from scratch.
You can borrow trust from those who already have it.
That means:
Partnering with local businesses
Offering free value to micro-communities
Using soft intros (ā[X] said I should reach out to youā¦ā)
Showing up in their world before asking for entry into yours
Trust is social capital. Leverage it. Respect it. Earn it.
2.
Micro Visibility
Viral isnāt valuable if itās not relevant.
You donāt need 10,000 followers. You need 10 people who know what you do and talk about it.
Start with:
Niche Facebook groups
Local events, pop-ups, mini-sessions
Collaborating with known names in your niche (even small ones)
Creating ultra-targeted content that solves one personās exact problem
š½ Pro move: Record a 30-second intro video. What you do, who you help, how you help. Pin it. Share it. DM it.
3.
Personal Relevance
If you sound generic, you stay forgettable.
But if your offer mirrors their life, you become magnetic.
Use this framework:
I help [specific type of person] solve [painful problem] so they can [desirable outcome].
Examples:
āI help postpartum moms rebuild core strength without going to the gym.ā
āI help overwhelmed solopreneurs rewrite their brand message so they finally sound like themselves again.ā
Positioning is about resonance, not reach.
Speak to one, and the right many will follow.
Being unknown isnāt a weakness. Itās a moment.
But only if you treat it strategically.
So next time you feel like the invisible expert in the room, remember this:
ā You donāt need to shout louder. You need to build trust smarter.
ā You donāt need more effort. You need more empathy.
ā And you donāt need to start over. You just need to show up with relevance.
Because credibility doesnāt come from what you say.
It comes from how others place you in their world.
